  • Once again, these soldiers aren't paying for it. They may be inconvenienced temporarily for not having their government travel card but they don't pay for the bags! The military reimburses them for authorized baggage. If they choose to bring back more than they have been authorized they should pay.

  • Sorry proud marine mom but I've never waited more than a pay period for my reimbursement. Can't speak for others but my experience is quite different, I'm guessing not everybody has to wait months.

  • Hate to break it to you Tony but I fly on orders at least annually for the last 10 years so I've seen more than my fair share of Travel Orders. This is why I'm so confident in speaking the truth. If you weren't briefed about the situation that's the fault of your supervisors, not the airline.

  • These contracts with the airlines were negotiated for all service branches years ago. If a particular service needs more baggage allowance they approve it on the orders, as was done for these troops.

  • Ok broad abroad, I make the same money as the members who made the video and I have also had to be reimbursed. How is it that I did it properly without having to broadcast anything to the internet? Probably because I understood the policy and had no reason to make a stink about nothing.

  • A broad abroad, the soldiers should use their government issued travel card to pay the fee. Or they could use some of the tax free money they earned while on deployment the way the rest of us have in the past.

  • Yes Tired I do think this some kind of stunt. As a service member if I have an issue it's my job to take it to my command through the chain of command, NOT make a video and post my feelings on Youtube for the world to see.

  • If I had to guess a member of the soldiers chain of command stepped in and informed them they were embarrassing the military unnecessarily. There are policies and procedure in place for this and the individuals either didn't know them or ignored them.
